The Maryland Institute of Court Reporting has aligned itself with the Maryland Community College System (MCCS), and changed the program name to Maryland Community College System's Court Reporter Training Program. Registration and administration is handled by Baltimore City Community College's Business and Continuing Education Division, with classes being held at the offices of Gore Brothers, 20 S. Charles Street, Suite 901, Baltimore, MD 21201. Created by three court reporters from different aspects of the profession with hands-on working knowledge and understanding of court reporting, we have brought together a program to afford the students a true insight into the world of reporting and all the great benefits it has to offer. The goal of this program is to give you the training, tools to practice, and the practical insight into the profession to become reporters in the legal environment or to pursue careers in CART and captioning.
If you are looking to embark on a new and exciting career, or have thought about a career change and think court reporting might be the answer, you’ve come to the right place. The Maryland Community College System's Court Reporter Training Program is the place to train for the exciting and financially rewarding profession of court reporting. Aside from the requirement that applicants must have a high school diploma or GED, be proficient in English, grammar and punctuation, there are no other “pre-requisites” or previous education necessary to enter our program.
