Application & Essay Considerations:

  • Scholarship Eligibility

    • Student must be enrolled in the Maryland Community College System’s Court Reporter Training Program hosted by Veritext Legal Solutions.
    • Student must have successfully passed one test with a minimum speed of 120 wpm or above by the submission of application.
  • Application Timeline

    A complete application must be received on or before 10:00 p.m. (Eastern Time) on March 11.  Applications received after this deadline will not be considered. Late applications will not be considered. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

    • Scholarship will be applied as credit toward the Summer Trimester due mid-April.
  • How to Apply

    This is a competitive scholarship. Applicants are evaluated according to trimester attendance, passing of speed tests, financial need and appreciation of the field of court reporting. Complete the application, write the required essay, and complete the form below to submit your application.

  • Disbursment

    This scholarship is a one-time award worth $500 and determined by Joe Grabowski and the program instructor.  Scholarship award can only be applied as a credit toward the Summer Trimester at the Maryland Community College System’s Court Reporter Training Program hosted by Veritext Legal Solutions.

  • ATTENDANCE AND PROGRESS

    (Represents 35 out of 100 points for selection). The Maryland Community College System’s Court Reporter Training Program hosted by Veritext Legal Solutions recognizes class attendance and speed progress as an important consideration.

  • FINANCIAL NEED AND SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES PER ESSAY

    (Represents 20 of the selection points) The Maryland Community College System’s Court Reporter Training Program hosted by Veritext Legal Solutions recognizes that the financial need and special circumstances can impact educational progress.

  • EDUCATION AND CAREER GOALS PER ESSAY

    (Represents 15 of the selection points) Planning and goal setting are important life skills.

  • RECOMMENDATION

    (Represents 10 of the points for selection) A positive recommendation from a student’s primary instructor is very important in the selection process.

  • REALTIME COACH, MEDICAL AND LEGAL TERMINOLOGY

    (Represents 5-15 of the points for selection) Applicants will be given 5 points each for having completed or currently signed up for Realtime Coach, legal and/or medical terminology courses. Proof of registration or completion must be uploaded with application.
