TUITION FEES: $725/trimester for each class of Theory I, II, and Speed Development covers the cost of tuition and Realtime Coach subscription.
CLASS MATERIAL:
Before the start of class, all Theory and Speed students are required to have at least the student version of CAT (Computer-Assisted Translation) software. Although there are many vendors out there, our instructor uses Eclipse, https://www.eclipsecat.com/product/student-software, and that is the recommended software for the course. After completing the program, Students are encouraged to do their own research and purchase the CAT software of their choice.
Eclipse offers a FREE TRIAL of the Eclipse Student Edition with a complimentary, private, one-hour online Student Orientation included where you can bring your own list of questions, or let them guide you from the start.
After 90 days, you can continue using Eclipse Student Edition by either making a one-time purchase or paying quarterly. If you decide to stay with Eclipse upon completing the program, they’ll apply the payments you made plus additional credit towards your eventual purchase of the Eclipse CAT Professional Edition.
Theory students are required to make a one-time purchase of a StenEd Theory Pack containing a Theory book, Reader and audio files which will be used for both Theory I and Theory II. Do the following to place your order:
Prior to the start of the first Theory class, beginning students are required to have a stenotype machine. If you need to rent or purchase one, see the contact info for Stenograph below. If that is not feasible, you can download the IstenoPad app for iPads from StenoCat for Theory 1 until you are able to get a machine.
TAX FORMS: The Maryland Community College System’s Court Reporter Training Program comes under their Adult Continuing Education Department and is a non-credit course. As such, the college does not issue a 1098-T Tax Form for students taking the program. This is being offered as a cost-effective way to train for the exciting and financially rewarding profession of court reporting.
Stenotype machine (student or professional model) is required for all courses and is not included in registration fees.
